Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Public Adjuster?

A Public Adjuster is a licensed professional who works exclusively for the policy holder.

Public Adjusters are trained to analyze all types of insurance policies, evaluate the damage sustained to the property, develop a detailed format to present to the insurance company, and negotiate every aspect of the claim on the insured’s behalf.

Why Should I Hire a Public Adjuster?

When a loss has occurred to your home or business, the process of evaluating the damage while understanding every aspect of your insurance policy can be overwhelming.

Your insurance company will have their own adjuster assigned to your case to work through all of the details of the claim keeping their own interest in mind throughout the process. Hiring a PA will provide you “the policy holder” with an adjuster on your side, representing only your interest…In other words by hiring a PA you are leveling the playing field insuring the best possible settlement for your claim.

How Do Public Adjusters Get Paid?

Public Adjusters work strictly on contingency. Our compensation is solely based on a percentage of the settlement. Because we only represent the policy holder’s interest, we do not receive any compensation from the insurance company.

Most importantly, a Public Adjuster gets paid at the conclusion of the process and after the policy holder has received their settlement check.

What is the Role of My Insurance Agent…Why Can’t They Help Me Prepare My Claim?

The role of the insurance agent is two-fold. They represent the company in writing the policy and selling it to you the policy holder, and they also strive to maintain their relationship with you as their customer. However when a claim is filed the role of the agent ends at that point. Remember they represent the company, so it would be a conflict of interest for them to assist in the preparation of the claim and negotiate with the company on your behalf when they are representing only the company’s interest.

Yes… you are their customer, so they want to service you and keep you happy, however they do this by providing you with comprehensive service when developing and writing your insurance policy.

The agent and company adjuster represent the company. A Public Adjuster is the only advocate on your side during the overall process.

Can’t I Simply Deal With The Insurance Company Myself?

Insurance in general is very complex. There are many different companies, many different types of policies and so many variations of coverages for each tailored policy and property. This is why it is only to your benefit to have an advocate on your side who does understand what you are entitled to and can fight for the best settlement for your loss. A Public Adjuster understands and is experienced in the entire claims process. We are skilled in the analysis of rebuilding your damaged property, compiling the data in a format that is accepted by the insurance company, and negotiating the factors that matter most, positioning you for the best possible settlement.

We always say…if you are sick you go to a doctor…if you are sued you hire a lawyer…why should this process be any different? Your home or building has sustained a loss…why would you go it alone? This also is the time to hire a professional.
